Volunteer service can range from participating in an Item Development Workshop to help review and/or write questions for the exam, participating in Education Development Workshops, or serving on a workgroup or committee. Ready to Make a Direct Impact?
The Governance Workshop, or "G-shop," is The Commission's annual in-person event, bringing together dedicated volunteer Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for three focused days every summer. If you are invited by The Commission to participate in G-shop, you will join peers, including fellow CCM and CDMS invitees, to collaborate on high-impact projects that directly advance The Commission's mission.What to Expect:
- Dedicated Workgroups: Participate in a focused workgroup where your expertise helps to shape the future of our certification exams or educational offerings. Workrooms taking place during G-shop typically include:
- CCM Item Development
- CDMS Item Development
- Education Development
- High-Value Networking: Connect with other top-tier volunteer SMEs from across the industry. Shared meals and an exclusive evening welcome reception provide the perfect opportunity to build your professional network and foster collaboration.

When completing the volunteer application, please select the applicable G-shop dedicated workgroup (see bullet list above) to be considered.

- Computer access and the ability to receive emails and download files
- Ability to participate in conference calls with the possibility of travel
- Committee assignments must be completed in a timely manner prior to conference calls and/or meetings. Most work is conducted via conference call or email
- Committee appointment is for a term of one year
- Approximately 40-50 hours of voluntary service are required per year
- Independent and group skills are required
NOTE: The Commission™ pays travel expenses. In-person meetings are preferred, but in the event you must attend virtually, full engagement and participation are required.
